Story about how to deal with ghost and face your Fears

It was middle of the night that sleeping in my studio apartment in Delhi, I was facing a terrible nightmare. I passionately loved to watch horror movies those days and envisioned a living dead ghost of my own uncle in my nightmare… You can refer title image just in case you want to know what a ghost in nightmares looks like.

Before I tell you more about this common scene all kids go through- living a nightmare; let me tell you that I also loved to watch fiction/fantasy movies and watched ‘Harry Potter’ those days and there was one scene in that movie which left a never fading impression on me. This incident started where little harry went to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and during one of the class where his classmates were learning to use their magical wound to chant a spell on a magic mirror which meant to show them their own fears, in front of them- Live (What an amazing thrill); harry chant the spell and encounter with an evil wizard named lord Voldemort and his teacher come to rescue by chanting a spell from his powerful magic wand and dismissed the class.

After watching this movie- act of little Harry facing his fear left me both stunned and inspired to face my own fears…

Let’s get back to the nightmare... I was sleeping on my bed and I saw my uncle coming towards me to kill me. His face was unproportionally large like nigrows with twice hairs on head from their face and it was vividly red like tablelands of lava. He was coming closer to me and even being alone in my flat I could feel his presence and without opening my eyes I was able to see him. He had holded my hands and squeezed them, I was unable to move my body and then little harry striked my mind and I gathered courage to face the ghost, thinking the ghost is still my uncle only and I can beg for my life to him; I had opened my eyes and there was nothing except heavy vibration in my hands and I couldn’t understand what just happened.

Next day, I had discussed entire episode with a doctor friend who told me that I was in a medical condition called sleep paralysis which generally happens when blood circulation can’t happen properly if you sleep from either side. Also there is a cure that if I move my thumbs in clockwise and anticlockwise direction, this vibration will go away. This was so strong a solution that it became end of my nightmares, that day onward whenever I get a nightmare my subconscious mind direction my thumbs to roll and less than 8-10 seconds; I go in deep sleep again. I thank harry potter to help me, after all this happened because I had learned to face my fears without having a magical wound or becoming a wizard.

What is FEAR- A powerful emotion for both body & mind to generate feeling of anxiety. You can have understand its full forms as- Forget Everything And Run or Face Everything And Rise.

Why do we FEAR- If anything is uncertain and dangerous and can make potential loss/harm, it is human nature to fear from it. Fear is always about what’s going to happen next, a futuristic thought & imaginary perception which drives us insane.

What are its symptoms- Fear can have many symptoms, some of the famous are- Fast heart beats, heavy breath, weak muscles, excessive sweat, stomach aceking, lost focus, dizziness, problem in eating, dry mouth etc...

How do we face it- Make a list of what you are afraid of and create a action plan to face. Make sure that you plan to deal with only those fears where after facing fear your life become better. Don’t take any task as to ‘fight with Lion in locked cage bare hands’ to face your fear or ‘take a bungee jumping without tying yourself from a rope’.

List all the things you want to improve and they are your worst nightmare. E.g.- For me, after my Sanskrit (B.A.) graduation in Rajasthan when I decided to pursue MBA from Delhi, I had encountered with my biggest fear- syllabus was in ENGLISH. I had no option but to fight with situation and learn it as ‘giving up’ is not a word in my dictionary. There are some of the thoughts which has helped in overcoming my fears, may help you as well; these are-

- Thinking of worst case scenario in beginning and assuming if you can screw it any further

- Knowing with 100% clarity why you need to overcome it and stick with the solution

- Since fear is reaction of both Body and Mind combined, think of solution in both direction. For body- Eat healthy (Veg+Fruits) & Exercise for 30 minutes regularly. For Mind- Do minimum 5 minute Yoga, 5 minute self talk & rest of the day- do what you love to do

- We plan for tomorrow but we can’t live in tomorrow so enjoy the very moment you are in.

- Feed you mind with thoughts such as- My family has always loved me & planned everything good for me and faced all adversities to make my life beautiful and I have responsibilities to live fear free to honor their sacrifices.

At worst we will die & we all can choose to live before it certainly happens.
